Wolfeboro natives especially, and residents in general, treasure every
gem in Wolfeboro, NH. Obvious draws
include the recreation and scenic views
of Lake Winnipesaukee along with Lake
Wentworth and the much smaller, charming
Crescent Lake. We know visitors, including
French President Nickolas
Sarkozy, make this friendly
community their destination
for fun found on the water,
unique shopping and
restaurants and music
festivals.
A relatively new attention
grabber is the Cotton Valley
Trail. Walk or bicycle from
the original section of
trail, the Bridge Falls Path,
along Wolfeboro’s Back
Bay–past remnants of the
former excelsior mill and
within eyeshot of the
historical Wright
Museum and Sea
Bird Chinese
Restaurant, your
stroll will lead you along the shores of
Crescent Lake and then Lake Wentworth
home to public Albee Beach with a walking
distance of 2 miles from the Wolfeboro Area
Chamber of Commerce Train Station.
It is not unusual to catch sight of a
local celebrity–a Blue Heron named Harry.
Watch for the variety of birds for the eye
and ear. On this walk you actually do want
to keep your head down on occasion–you
just might spot a show stopping, large
sized turtle that will make for a good story
later. Wolfeboro residents will want you to
remember another highlight
of venturing out on the
Cotton Valley Trail–it’s free!
The pristine waters
of Lake Winnipesaukee
provide a beautiful scene
for your sailboat excursion,
and the open water is a
haven for the motorboat
enthusiast. Kayaking
on Back Bay or one
of the smaller lakes
is a great escape
for lakeside
serenity.
