In Good Company With the attitude of “Cheers” and décor of a New York bistro, this restaurant and wine bar exudes community. The brainchild and dream of Rockland-born, Culinary Institute of America-trained Melody Wolfertz is one of the friendliest places in town. While there are a few marble 2-tops, most tables are set for 4 to 6, and couples sit “family-style” with others. Even the menu is geared toward sharing, with platters of European cheeses and Gouda fondues, boats of olives and artisan pizzas with exquisite combinations, and an extensive collection of wines and microbrews. In back the Community Room offers a large table, where even the most reticent of singles will meet new friends. Melody works her magic from the small, open, centrally-located kitchen while sending friendly greetings to customers. The aroma of fresh basil, caramelized onions and hot cherry peppers combine to create a positively enticing aroma. In Good Company feels like a new party every night, and that’s just the harmony Melody dreamt of offering. 415 Main St, 207.593.9110
