Downtown Rockland
Bob Hastings arrived in Rockland, ME in 2002, determined to polish the face of the rough coastal city.  Since then in his role as Executive Director of the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, he has led economic development not only in Rockland, but in the larger Knox County community as well.
Hastings was nominated as Classic Country Life Magazine’s “Face of Rockland” by an admirer who pointed to him as “someone with great vision and the capacity to follow through on his promises.  He continues to demonstrate sound fiscal management and is a good manager with solid people skills; he works well with chamber members, his board of directors, his staff and the many wonderful volunteers who work for the chamber.”
When Marti Mayne was researching our Town Tour of Rockland, she noted that Bob Hastings embodied the vibrant spirit that reigns in the town today.  This vibrancy is apparent in the harbor where cruise ships, fishing and tour boats and windjammers fill the berths; on the renovated and revitalized Main Street where galleries, shops and unique eateries thrive; and inside the Gateway Center and Maine Lighthouse Museum, a project that Hastings spearheaded.

Classic Country Life Magazine salutes Bob Hastings who represents the “New Face of Rockland.”
