The Sculpture of Hugh Gibbons CAPE CODE, MASSACHUSETTS The Sculpture of Hugh Gibbons
Recently retired law professor Hugh Gibbons took up sculpting forty years ago as a means to channel his creative energy. He has produced hundreds of works in stone, marble, limestone, alabaster, soapstone, wood and metal. His work is mainly what he calls “subtractive,” meaning that he begins with the raw material and removes pieces to arrive at his final creation. While he is rather lighthearted, jovial and humorous, his pieces are sophisticated, serious and indicate a complex personality. Hugh makes his home on Cape Cod, MA and his work can be found in galleries throughout the USA. |
